Arnold Is Back: ‘Terminator 2’ Returns to Theaters for Anniversary Screenings May 22-30

“I’ll be back!”

These ominous words from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Terminator” character are among the most quoted movie lines in a generation.

On May 22, the 35th anniversary of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” kicks off a weeklong theatrical run at American Cinematheque. (See the schedule below at the Egyptian, Los Feliz and Santa Monica Aero theaters.)

The screening of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” the second film in the “Terminator” series, is presented by Rialto Pictures and STUDIOCANAL in the 70mm 35mm, 4K DCP and 3-D DCP digital formats.

Director James Cameron’s blockbuster action series premiered with “The Terminator” in 1984. “Terminator 2” in 1991 set the bar for computer-generated special effects.

‘Terminator’ Series of Films

In the first installment of “The Terminator,” meek Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) is the target of Schwarzenegger’s futuristic killing machine. In “T2,” a hardened Sarah and son (Edward Furlong) are stalked by a more advanced and deadly T-1000 (Robert Patrick).

For “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” Schwarzenegger becomes the quintessential action hero, when he’s reprogrammed to be the deadly protector.
