Rising Star Comic Vicki Wagner Brings Uncensored ‘Brash Babble’ to WeHo TV

vickiwagnerbrashbabbleVicki Wagner is one of West Hollywood’s funniest, versatile and most vocal residents, and she is back making waves on the airwaves at Channel 36.

The comic and former host of the lively “Lesbian Knows Best” returns on Thursday nights to host “Brash Babble With Vicki Wagner.”

“It’s me and other rotating comics bantering back and forth,” says the bold blonde with a seemingly unlimited range of quips and queries. “The show provides a much needed voice to local up-and-coming comedians in the Los Angeles area.”

And, Wagner insists, “No topic is off limits. I speak my mind. I’m not going to censor myself.”

The show, a kind of mash-up of The View’s “Hot Topics,” “Chelsea Lately” and “Comics Unleashed,” took a break for the Fourth of July holiday but resumes this coming Thursday, July 11.

The co-conspirators in comedy have included Laura Hayden, recently seen on “Stand Up in Stiletto’s” on TV Guide Network, and Chad Ridgely, who recently released the single, “Big Boobies on Blondes or Brunettes or Redheads,” with different pairings of comics on the show each week.

“My intent is to bring a different perspective and to entertain,” says Wagner. “It’s not a gay show,” she adds, even though the last show dealt with the just-announced Supreme Court ruling on DOMA and Prop 8. Topics will range from current events to pop culture to pet peeves.

The half-hour talk show format is a fitting avenue for Wagner’s brand of babble. A writer and veteran of cable TV productions, she leapt onto the comedy stage seven ago, only to give up her dream of being a standup comic when illness (later diagnosed as diabetes) sidelined her as a performer.

Since then she authored “Get a Date Today!  How to Market Yourself for Love!” and hosted Lesbian Knows Best, an advice show she created, putting her people skills to work. Wagner also makes a living as a ghost writer, and “I also create websites and content for websites.”

Kimberly Cox, Wagner’s partner, produces Brash Babble; it’s directed by Miguel Tapia. Associate producers include Gali Kroup and comedian Celeste Davis, who will also appear as a guest comic.  Other guest comics set to appear include Tania Morales, Ray Camacho, Paula Faust, Steve Cooper, Toni Perotta, Kymedienne Fluff Puff Jackson, Chris Putro, David Robinson, Bill Lackner, Bryan Lee and Shayne Michael.

“Brash Babble With Vicki Wagner” is broadcast live on Thursdays, from 8:30-9 p.m. on Time Warner Cable Channel 36 in West Hollywood. The show reruns on Wednesdays at 1 and 3 a.m. For more about the show or the other exploits of Ms. Wagner, go to Vicki-wagner.com. You can also visit the popular Vicki Wagner Fan Group on Facebook.
